IAGES Signs LOI with RCSEd

A truly historic milestone for Indian surgery and global surgical education.

The Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo Surgeons (IAGES), India’s oldest and largest association dedicated to minimally invasive surgery since 1993, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd), the world’s oldest surgical college, established in 1505.

This landmark collaboration symbolizes the coming together of two prestigious institutions with a shared vision of advancing academic excellence, innovation, and surgical training in Robotics, Endoscopy, and Laparoscopic Surgery.

The LOI was formally signed by Mrs. Claire McNaught, President of RCSEd, and Prof. K. Govindaraj, President of IAGES, in the presence of RCSEd Vice Presidents Dr. Angus Watson and Dr. Robinson, along with Council Members Dr. Sai Krishna Vittal and Dr. Selvasekar.

Representing IAGES were Past President Dr. Venkatesh, Senior Member Dr. P. K. Reddy, Dr. Sunil Kumar, EC Members Dr. Jameel, Dr. Naveen Alexander, and Dr. Kannan.

This partnership marks the beginning of an exciting journey toward strengthening surgical education, fostering international collaboration, and empowering the next generation of surgeons with world-class training and opportunities.

A special appreciation to Dr. Sai Krishna Vittal, whose vision, commitment, and tireless efforts made this remarkable achievement possible within a very short span of time.
